Dear Colleague
Welcome to The Centre for Child Mental Health.
We are delighted to present our programme of events for 2008.
How Can The Centre for Child Mental Health Help You?
One of the most challenging tasks can be that of enabling troubled children and young people to thrive. It can seem like an uphill struggle when you are repeatedly met with defensiveness, anger, mistrust, misery or challenging behaviour. That’s where we come in. Our aim is to support you with vital skills, underpinned by the latest research from psychology and brain science. Through our conferences, training days and courses you will acquire tools, techniques and effective ways of relating in conjunction with fascinating theory, so you feel more empowered, supported and confident in your important work. What is more fulfilling than to know you have made a real difference to the life of a child or young person who is heading for unfulfilled potential, harm to self or others, criminality or the endless intergenerational transmission of misery?
Our Trainings and Conferences
Far removed from a ‘sitting at desks’ affair, our events aim to inspire you whilst markedly enhancing your emotional and practical resources. They are designed to engage the whole self : imagination, intellect and emotion. Our delegates frequently tell us that our trainings have changed their lives as well as their work.
All trainings are staffed by the most eminent trainers, carefully chosen for their ability to enable participants to feel deeply enthused and involved. The trainers have published widely, many with key books and journal articles. Many have acted as consultants to key organisations and governing bodies, e.g. The Department of Health, The Department of Education and Science, The National Children’s Bureau, The Centre for Social Justice Westminster, The Sex Education Forum and many other governmental, education and social service departments in the UK and abroad.
Our Courses
One day trainings on arts based ways of working with children’s feelings

All our courses are designed with a key focus on the requirements of Every Child Matters and the Common Assessment Framework. Many of our courses are run in conjunction with our sister organisation The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (validated by London Metropolitan University).
We look forward very much to your participation in 2008’s events and, as ever, we welcome your thoughts and suggestions.
