Choose from the following topics:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with Children and Young People
  • EMDR with Children and Young People
  • Attachment in the Classroom
  • Life Story Work
  • Colour Therapy
  • Engaging the Silent Child

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Teaches children and young people to understand the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Unwanted feelings and behaviours can be overcome by goals and strategies focusing on specific psychological and practical skills.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)
A cutting-edge therapeutic process for children and young people who have suffered trauma and find it difficult to move on. EMDR sessions target painful memories until the person feels free of their emotional charge.

Attachment in the Classroom
Learn how to address the attachment needs of the child which research shows is key for them to be able to learn, form rewarding relationships and thrive.

Life Story Work
Life Story Work gives children and young people an opportunity to make sense of who they are, their relationship to those around them and their place in the world. It is particularly useful for those who find themselves in long term care/adoption or multi-placement within the ‘looked after’ system. It covers the concepts of Attachment, Loss, Magical Thinking, History, Identity and Meaning.

Colour Therapy
The key to this intervention is to help children and young people express themselves through colour when words are too hard to find. Colour Therapy aims to soothe and heal children by alleviating fear of failure and by changing mind sets from “I can’t” to “I can”, enabling children to find their own inner strength and motivation.

Engaging the Silent Child
These senior clinicians bring you a wealth of hands-on tools and techniques for engaging the child who does not want to talk in certain settings. Learn how to draw out the undrawn (Alvarez) and withdrawn child.
