Led by Liz Ronan, this 1-day Live Conference Event is designed to increase your confidence and competence in dealing effectively and ethically with child protection situations which may arise in your practice. It will begin with an overview of the current legal and policy context within which services to children are situated.
Definitions of abuse and neglect will be considered including how children may present their experience of these painful life experiences, not only verbally but through their behaviour, play and art work. Furthermore, discussion will take place on how you should deal with concerns or disclosures in line with statutory child protection procedures.
Liz is a psychology graduate and social worker who is currently working as an Independent Reviewing Officer for Newcastle City Council. Liz previously worked in a front-line Child Protection setting making decisions around significant harm and safeguarding. Liz has also worked extensively with traumatised children and young people both as part of the therapy team at Family Futures and within CAMHS, offering therapeutic interventions to adopted children and those experiencing complex and often severe mental health difficulties.
