2-day training with Dr Dan Hughes: Healing trauma in troubled children and teenagers

Overview

On this training, Dan will demonstrate his amazing model of relating to children and young people, called PACE (playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy). PACE brings a wonderful sense of psychological safety for even the most defended of children, meaning that profound human connection that heals becomes a reality. PACE is informed by strategic and structural family therapy, Ericksonian hypnotherapy, psychodynamic principles, psychodrama, interventions congruent with Theraplay, and narrative work. On the training Dan will use actual case examples of his child and parent dyads to demonstrate PACE.

Secondly, Dan will introduce his model Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP). It is a family-based intervention, an all-encompassing approach that includes therapeutic parenting for children as well as the therapy. It brings together attachment theory, developmental trauma theory, the neurobiology of trauma, intersubjectivity theory and child development. It has a profound impact on healing troubled family systems as well as enabling parents and children to connect and heal.

Dr Dan Hughes is world-leading practitioner in healing troubled children. He is a Clinical Psychologist and author of many books including 'Building the Bonds of Attachment'; 'Healing Relational Trauma'; 'Attachment Focused Family Therapy'; 'Attachment Focused Parenting'; 'Brain Based Parenting'.

He has decades of groundbreaking and profoundly moving clinical practice with very traumatised adolescents who have moved into violence.
