Working therapeutically with adoptive parents: Why and how to support parents with their adopted children
While parenting an adopted child can be rewarding, it also has unique challenges that requires a special understanding. This presentation will explore why it's different from ordinary parenting and how professionals can offer support.
Roz Read
For the past 20 years Roz Read has worked with adopted children and their parents initially with Family Futures and then for 10 years, with the PAC-UK. Roz now works in private practice, commissioned by Regional Adoption Agencies as an independent provider. Roz is the Course Director of the Integrative Child Psychotherapy MA training at IATE validated by UEL. Over 35 years and with a background working in the arts, Roz has worked extensively with children and teenagers in multi-cultural inner-city community projects, schools and multi-disciplinary teams for over 35 years.
Roz is a UKCP registered Integrative Child Psychotherapist, a Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) Certified Practitioner and a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner. She co-edited the book, "Contemporary Child Psychotherapy: Integration and Imagination in Creative Clinical Practice".
